I want to identify an art print.?
I saw this wonderful print 20 years ago. It was about 30" wide by 20" tall. I think the original would have been an oil painting. The style I think would be called victorian, perhaps. The scene is a young boy I think asleep, there is a winged fairy leaning over him. The boy has clothes like an english boy would wear, shorts and oxford shirt. The fairy looks like an girl with gossomer wings like a dragonfly. The foreground with the figures is a stone patio with columns an old stone structure. The expansive background is an invented extensive landscape. I think it is a view down an imaginary valley.
I have tried to find similar works and have ruled out: John Waterhouse, Edward Hughes.
I think the type is called fantasy. It is may be a newer painting that is painted in an older style to go along with the subject.
I think the art movement of the Victorian period was called "Pre-Raphaelite". However this time period coincides with what is called the Golden Age of American Illustration. The picture you describe calls to mind two such arists: Paul Thurman and Maxfield Parrish - check them out. I hope this helps.
