Many beloved pets can live forever thanks to an artist's special talent, even if it is only on the mantel. She affirms that any individual with a dog, pony, cat, or even just a white rat thinks that his pet animal is indeed the most intelligent and beautiful pet in the area. The proud masters have to go through so much coaxing and cooing, making them go to the camera so they can remember them, and have their likeness retained on the mantel. But then Scottie's ear would droop while Samantha would yawn and this is what the camera captures. It was funny how blue boy could not find his foot while Willy got obscured by dark shadows. The pet's remembrance through the portrait turned out to be a major mishap.
The lady remedies such a quandary by creating a portrait of the beloved little pet while he reflects his special personality in a photo. A common practice we see today among many illustrators is working from a subject's photograph. An experienced artist can still be able to fix the faults in a photo brought in by pet lovers such as poor lighting, fuzzy features or off centered subjects. She is challenged when people are the subjects but she enjoys creating animal portraits.
She is keen on getting the subject's spirit. If a person can judge her work, a mishmash of emotions would definitely surface. She is indeed happy about the picture. Snapshots that have human beings as subject would not be far from how some pet photos are where lighting and composition leave much to be desired while there is very little character or personality exuding. Many times, the snapshot would not be good enough to be enlarged and be displayed. And right here is where the portrait painter comes into the picture. Portraits that are personable, warm and intimate come out from her own close up photos, even small ones.
With her creative prowess, she changes tone and color and this makes things way effective. Even as she makes subtle improvements, she makes sure that the facts are retained. Whenever she is tasked to create a portrait for a customer, she makes sure that she asks them what medium they would like her to use. The great portrait done of the local sheriff, for example, was achieved by combining pen and ink as well as watercolor. Most of her work entails this procedure.
When you look closely, the shading of the portrait is a series of tiny flecks. In the sheriff portrait, there are about 100,000 dots, she shares. She was able to demonstrate how the rapidogarph pen was able to help her achieve the effect. Unlike old ink within drawing pens, this can be moved in any direction when drawing lines and she shares that this is extremely important when it comes to detail. Furthermore, it is smooth and quite easy to manipulate.
You are not an artist until you've mastered a style unique to yourself. The signature style of this lady portraitist is definite realism. From her school day passion for horses as subject, it has developed to the passion she has now with portraits. She learned much when exhibiting in art shows in various places and other area art fairs.
Inquiries would flood in after seeing her works in a private collection, a Legion Hall or perhaps the college library. And this is how her paintings grew highly popular throughout the Midwest area. Rendering nude paintings of people or commercial work on canvas has never brought her the happiness that only people and pet portraits can give her.
