Kissenberth Emily, born in New Jersey and alum Florence Art Program in 2009, shared these words of the delightful and enthusiastic with us to experience its summer, with Abbey Road. It's always fun to hear first hand accounts from students in to thank you for your contribution, Em!
"I tell my in Florence as exciting and informative, but then I consider the life changing and inspiring. When I first came down from the plane in Italy, I felt nervous and confused, I was in a country I've never been, I felt isolated because I could not communicate, and overwhelmed because I was jet-lagged, tired, and I wanted to hide. But then Stefano, who later found out I was going to my art history teacher, came around the corner, with a sign great to read the "Abbey Road! Emily, Mica, Eden?" and a great smile. Suddenly I felt relieved and excited for next month.
The most important aspect of living in Italy was figuring out how to live with five other people I've never met in my life. Six of us were from all over the world, stretching from Brasilia to New York City and Borough of Florida in Boston. We were all so different but related in connection with the fact that we were all first time visitors in Italy and we were all confused about how our lives absolutely begin next month. We stayed up and play cards, learn to cook Italian food really messes with bubbles made with our cooking instructor, William, laughed and talked about our lives at home, scattered makeup and hair products all over the apartment, waiting for night residence at least weekly by inviting everyone to come and hangout with us, but more importantly who helped each other work our sat and made art together. We all shared the simple interest and we all help each other grow individually. For me, being surrounded by centuries of fine arts and living with five other artists was the most inspiring thing about being Italy.
My class size was oil painting, which I had in the morning. I've never been so excited wake up at 7:00 in my whole life. We went to our studio and worked until 11:30. Antonio, my painting instructor, was a talented and inspiring, and I think that they have completed some of my work better by working with it. Also, there were only seven other students in my class, so it made for a long time personal teaching and lessons from my instructor. In the afternoon I've had with Stefano art history. He is so smart and knows so much information about art in Florence and Rome. I was really grateful that I chose to take art history, because as a college student in art history I am taking now, being in Italy and seeing all the paintings in real life I am learning about and has done a lot more interesting.
More importantly, being in Florence, with a staff helpful, caring, meeting new people who are now life long friends has been the experience The best in my life so far. Every time i see something that reminds me of my trip, I just smile because all I have good memories and stories. There is nothing like a beautiful place, filled with ancient works of art that I built the frame I want follow for the rest of my life. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to go to Florence, and participate Summer Programs at Abbey Road. "
