Wishing for a star? Where did they come from?
Hey, I'm just curious: You're probably you are familiar with the Disney classic "when like the stars "from Pinocchio. Well, I am Once upon a listen recently and I just I was wondering if this particular expression of originating. Whether you want a Star or meteor, that sounds like an Old religious practice my ears. Even and if it is not, however, some level of superstition, associated with it. I would love to evaluate any information on its origin and / or groups and beliefs practiced by this group (s). Points go to the first reasonably thorough Answerer. First reasonable depth, which means, outdoing a previous response points will not guarantee if it is very the same information. Thanks!
"One of the first festival of the summer in Japan is Tanabata on July 7, known as "Star Festival. From the night of Tanabata, it is traditional wishes to write a long thin strips from colored paper and bamboo to tie branches. As the Western tradition of seeking a meteor or throw money into that wishing well, you can wish for anything you like ... and if you want hard enough can only be true! "The Origin this festival is very romantic, ancient legend imported from China into Japan in 8th century. This is a tragic story of a star passes lovers. The story goes as follows: Once upon a time, Emperor of the galaxy and his beautiful daughter, Princess Orihime, lived one side of the Milky Way. Princess is a very hardworking girl, each day she wove from early morning until late at night so she never had time to go and meet a good man. Emperor who cares about this, decided to introduce a man of his daughter. He selected one industrious Hikoboshi called cow herd living on other side of the galaxy. Orihime liked Hikoboshi seemingly both soon fell deeply in love. Anyway, the princess soon began to neglect her weaving. This angry father, and in anger he paid lovers sent back to the other Hikoboshi side of the Milky Way. They were so upset they wept day and night. Emperor I that is too heavy for them, decided to launch couple meets only once a year. So that on the seventh day of the seventh month of each year It enables Orihime Hikoboshi and go across the bridge the Milky Way and meet one another. However, they can only meet if the weather is nice. If you look up in the night sky on July 7, you can see two stars Vega (Orihime) and Altair (Hikoboshi) meet in heaven. "Ironically, however, 7 July is in the middle the rainy season in Japan, so that both love can not always meet. "In some areas, the festival is held in August, but by July, in line with the old calendar. Tanabata Festival in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture is among the most popular in the country. "
