Mounting Oil Pained Art Work (without a frame)?
My daughter (and sometimes myself also) likes to paint with oil paints. She buys these 'rigid' canvas and I dont think they would look right framed. (Most of her stuff is pretty abstract)
I would like to know if there is a way I can mount some sort of hook to them to get them on my wall. I'd like to start an art wall. I have one of mine up but it was easier, it is canvas stretched over wood mounting, so i hung it over a large nail. I may consider framing that one later.
Any suggestions for her thin rigid canvas? I have seen these sticky canvas things with a round metal hole at the top and sticky on back, I'd try those but I am not sure they would hold, also I live in a rural area (in Canada) and finding those is next to impossible out here.
Any creative ideas?
Using the canvas hook hanger is a little scary I agree.. But I have used them Not trusting the adhesives that is already there I add some wood glue to them before applying . You will have to wait for the glue to fry of course, but they will not be coming off any time soon.
If I understand correctly you are using canvas board. My big concern with not having them in a frame would be warping from moisture in the air over time. Nothing drastic. Just some bowing.
There is a type of metal hanger used mainly with photos under glass but not framed. Separately they clip on the four sides with enough space to accommodate the glass, photo and a backing board. However the name of them escapes me at this time. There is a slight reveal of the clip on the glass, with most of it being behind the backing board. Each of the clips used has a hole in it ready to be attached to a nail in the wall. And they hang very flush to the wall. My thinking here is with these clips and an additional backing board might reduce any warping that might occur. I'll try to locate them on the internet and place a link here if I find what I'm talking about. LOL! Like I'll be that lucky to find them.
Haven't been able to find what I'm talking about. The aggravating part is I have some being used to hang some photos on the wall but don't recall what they are called.
